Classy Cooks – 3 Tips For Better, Healthier Cooking at Home

Food has become more than a necessity for survival. It brings families together, it’s a source of entertainment and it even has its own dedicated channels on TV. There are tons of superfoods that are extremely healthful and all the craze right now. The problem is, while we’re busy celebrating ingredients in everyday life, we still struggle to find the time to cook healthy, nutritious meals for our family.

Never fear, all is not lost! By changing the way you prepare the family meal, you can revolutionize your dinner time experience for yourself and the whole clan. Here’s how:

Use Non-Stick Cookware

As most professional and celebrity chefs will tell you, using the best cookware brands is an essential part of the cooking experience. You could be using the finest ingredients in the world, with techniques learned from the masters, but if your cookware is substandard, your meals will be too. It’s not only the time saved on scouring that puts non-stick cookware ahead of the game, it’s the health benefits as well.

Unlike standard pans that requires food to be drowned in an artery-blocking amount of grease, cookware with non-stick coating will only ever require a drop of oil. It doesn’t matter whether you’re frying, sautéing or searing, you will certainly notice the difference in the taste of your food.

Better Knives Create Better Food

If you’ve ever prepared dinner with a blunt knife, you will know just how challenging it can be. That squishy tomato can turn into a mushy mess, and you can forget about chopping fresh garlic to the desired consistency. The truth is, better knives create better food. Preparation is the key to creating delightful dishes and anything that helps with this key step will pay dividends with the outcome.

It’s well-known that quality knives are safer, offer better control, and are far more comfortable to use. If your current prep knife is not up to the  task, it’s time to pull out the wallet. Knowing what you’re looking for is half the battle. According to Huffington Post, it’s all down to ‘steel and feel’. High carbon stainless steel can see you through countless tomatoes with ease, while a balanced knife handle will stop you from experiencing grip issues or discomfort. Match a knife with a sharpening block and you’re set for life.

Use Technology to Your Advantage

We live in a world full of convenient technology, and boy has it been a wild ride! No one is denying how easy life has become with smartphones and cars you can plug into wall sockets. These modern advancements have also made their way into the kitchen. The market is awash with amazing, technologically advanced appliances that can make your cooking simpler, tastier and healthier. From vegetable steamers that help to preserve the nutrients in your vegetables, to amazing gadgets like Thermomix that can pretty much prepare an entire meal by themselves, the tools to create amazing, nutritious meals with less effort and great precision have never been more accessible.

That’s not where the technological advantage ends, however. The internet has made a monumental impact in the way we cook. Recipe websites and apps give us access to a wider range of dishes that most of us could ever have imagined. Meanwhile, online resources such as YouTube can provide you with the technical instruction to perform almost any task with ease. Putting the internet to work for you in the kitchen might just be one of the best moves you can make in your culinary life.

Whatever your taste, we all want to ensure that our families can sit down to healthy meals that they love, while we save time and effort. Follow these simple tips and you’ll be sure to reap the rewards.
