Vegan vs veggie:
If you’re curious about what the difference is between the diets of vegetarians and the diets of vegans, the primary difference is that vegans refrain from eating foods which contain all manner of animal products such as yoghurt, milk and cheese. While vegetarians simply consume a diet that is meat free. Many vegans also choose to refrain from wearing clothing items and accessories which have been manufactured from leather, such as leather shoes. Both vegans and vegetarians can consume fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes and grains. Some vegetarians will also consume eggs, while eggs are definitely off limits for strict vegans.
Gluten free:
While some individuals have no choice but to follow a gluten free diet, due to a severe intolerance to gluten, other individuals simply choose to follow gluten free diets, as they find that gluten is hard for their digestive system to process. Individuals who follow gluten free diets, refrain from consuming foods which contain certain types of grains such as wheat and will not eat white bread, white rice or regular cereal. However, there are now a wide variety of companies who produce gluten free alternatives, which gluten free individuals can safely consume such as gluten free cereal and gluten free flour.
Halal:
Individuals who follow a halal diet as adherents to the Islamic faith choose to abstain from eating pork and only eat animal products which have been prepared following Islamic rules around the preparation of meat.
Paleo:
In recent years more individuals have taken up paleo diets. The term paleo is short for paleolithic and refers to a diet which is inspired by the diets of stone age humans. Paleo diets tend to be basic and mostly consist of meat, fish, eggs, fruits and nuts and seeds, all of which are whole foods. Those on paleo diets, try to restrict their consumption of processed foods and try to consume whole, natural foods.
Low carbohydrate vs high carbohydrate diets:
Individuals who choose to adhere to low carb diets limit their consumption of starchy carbs such as potatoes, rice and bread. Typical foods which are eaten on a low carb diet include leafy greens, nuts, legumes and lean meat such as chicken and turkey breast and salmon.
While some people find the results that they’re looking for following low card diets, other individuals prefer to follow high carb diets which encourage the consumption of healthy carbs.
High protein diets:
High protein diets usually are packed full of eggs, tofu, quinoa, nuts, meat, fish, chicken and cheese. An example of a typical high protein lunch includes a garden salad served with lean chicken breast strips and egg.
Fruitarian:
Fruitarians only consume fruits. While some individuals sing the praises of following an entirely fruit based diet, most doctors would advise their patients not to follow a fruitarian diet. As there are nutrients which can’t be found in fruits alone.
